Here at Equus Training Ireland we are delighted with the success of Monty Roberts' visit to the RDS Horse Show. When we persuaded Monty to come, and persuaded the RDS to host him, we were sure that he would receive a great welcome in Dublin - but the response was truly overwhelming - at the demonstrations in the RDS Simmonscourt arena, at our Equus Training Ireland booth at the RDs, and in the Press.
We hope that you all got to at least one of the demonstrations, and had an opportunity to meet and chat with Monty at the Equus Training Ireland booth.
If you want to learn more about Monty Roberts' methods - take a look at our upcoming courses, and if you would like to organise a demonstration of Monty's methods for your riding club or pony club - send us an e-mail with your details (click on the Contact Tab above), and we'll see what we can do for you.
Equus Training Ireland brings Monty Roberts to the annual RDS Horse Show

World-renowned natural horseman Monty Roberts demonstrated his revolutionary equine training techniques at the 2010 Failte Ireland Dublin Horse Show at the RDS.
This was Monty Roberts second visit to Ieland - he was last here in 1995 - and in conjunction with Equus Training, conducted hour long demonstration of his famed techniques on each day of the five days of the Horse Show which took place in August 4-8, 2010.
These sessions included a demonstration of Monty’s legendary JoinUp technique with a young horse that has not previously been exposed to a saddle or rider, a trailer loading session with a difficult horse that was refusing to load, and ridden and non-ridden remedial sessions with problem horses.
The packed Simmonscourt watched in awe as Monty worked with a variety of horses in his gentle natural way. Seeing the effect of his techniques to create a trusting partnership with the animal, whether a raw starter or a horse with behavioural problems. The audience also had the opportunity to ask Monty questions after the completion of each demonstration and Monty was also be available for further questions and autographs each day at the Equus Training trade stand.
Monty’s demonstrations were organised by the RDS in conjunction with Caroline Jennings of Equus Training Ireland, who is the official and exclusive Irish trainer schooled in Monty’s revolutionary techniques. These demonstrations formed an important part of the RDS education and entertainment programme which has been developed to complement and add to the already wide range of events which took place during the annual Show.
About Monty
Monty Roberts was all but born in the saddle; growing up on a working horse farm he witnessed firsthand the traditional and often violent methods of ‘horse breaking’. As he grew, he rebelled against these accepted but cruel methods. By his observation and study of horses in the wild, he gained an understanding of the equine communication system, which in turn enabled him to develop his own unique partnership and communication system which he refers to as the language of Equus.
Roberts has led an extraordinary life. A child riding prodigy, award-winning trainer, best-selling author, Hollywood stunt man (he worked with James Dean on East of Eden), foster dad to 47 children (in addition to three of his own) and creator of the world-renowned and revolutionary equine training technique called JoinUp, Roberts first gained widespread fame with the release of his New York Times Best Selling book, The Man Who Listens To Horses; a chronicle of his life and development of his non-violent horse training methods.
Monty Roberts endeavours to share his message that "Violence is never the answer", his goal in life is to leave the world a better place for horses and for people. His philosophies are so compelling that they can be seen at work with both humans and horses across the world, from farms to major corporations.
